Southern Miss baseball has added its fourth transfer commitment for the 2026 season, confirming the arrival of Brock Clayton, a redshirt sophomore who brings a blend of power and flexibility to the Golden Eagles' lineup.
Versatility Defines Clayton
At 6‑foot‑3 and 215 pounds, Clayton has proven himself as a capable catcher and outfielder, a dual‑position skill set that coaches value for its strategic depth.
A Standout Performance
His most recent outing against Gulf Coast State College showcased a 4‑for‑4 performance, two home runs, six RBIs and two stolen bases, underscoring his offensive firepower. Earlier in the season he even launched a solo homer off fellow transfer Drew Harrison, a Pearl River Community College pitcher.
A Growing Transfer Class
Clayton joins Drew Harrison, Cannon Peery and Cade Baker in a transfer class that also sees returning standouts such as Jace Norton, McCarty English, Brooks Willoughby, Jake Neely and Camden Rodgers announcing their intent to move on from the program.
Looking Forward
Coaches expect the infusion of experienced talent to tighten competition within the squad and to position Southern Miss as a contender in the upcoming schedule. The program’s recent commitments reflect a strategic push to blend youthful energy with seasoned collegiate experience.
