The Transfer Landscape
Veteran analyst Bill Connelly has released his highly anticipated list of the ten most impactful transfers set to shape the Big Ten football landscape for the 2026 season. The selections span every position group and highlight players who are expected to make immediate contributions to their new programs.
Quarterback Moves
Among the quarterbacks, former TCU standout Josh Hoover arrives in Indiana after a collegiate career that produced 9,629 passing yards and 71 touchdowns. His experience and poise under center are viewed as a potential catalyst for the Hoosiers' offensive resurgence.
Backfield Additions
Running back Wayne Knight, a James Madison alumnus, has transferred to UCLA and arrives with 1,770 yards from scrimmage and ten touchdowns to his credit. At Iowa, Lendon Phillips Jr. brings a powerful ground game, having amassed 2,116 yards from scrimmage and averaged 6.5 yards per carry in the previous season.
Defensive Upgrades
The defensive side of the ball will also see significant turnover. John Henry Daley, a defensive end from Utah, is slated to join Michigan and is expected to be fully available after recovering from a torn Achilles. Marcus Neal Jr., a safety from Iowa State, heads to Penn State where he previously recorded two interceptions and 12 tackles for loss. Terry Moore, a safety who earned accolades at Duke, moves to Ohio State and was recognized as one of the ACC’s top defenders in 2024. Sahir West, a pass‑rusher from James Madison, heads to UCLA and posted 16 tackles for loss and seven sacks last season. Mister Clark, a multi‑position defender from Florida International University, will anchor the secondary at Purdue, where he led his former team with 12 pass breakups, three interceptions and six tackles for loss.
Special teams contributions are also notable, with Koi Perich, formerly of Minnesota, transferring to Oregon and already making his presence felt on coverage units. The cumulative effect of these moves suggests a depth of talent that could reshape conference rankings and playoff projections.
