A veteran coach steps into leadership with a focus on mentorship and innovation

A Vision for Vermont Basketball

Sarah Roy’s election marks a new chapter for Vermont’s basketball community, as the association announced her unanimous selection following a distinguished tenure on its board.

With more than a decade of coaching experience at North Country Union High School, Roy has compiled a 110‑17 record, captured two Division II state titles, and guided her teams to an undefeated 24‑0 season in 2023.

Beyond the high school ranks, she founded the Kingdom Storm AAU program, directs the Legacy Basketball Camp, and serves as referee coordinator for North Country Junior Hoops, underscoring her deep involvement across the state’s basketball ecosystem.

In her new role, Roy says she will champion the motto “Making Basketball Better in Vermont,” emphasizing mentorship, sportsmanship, and pathways for young athletes to excel both on and off the court.

Her vision includes expanding coaching education, fostering inclusive programs, and strengthening ties between high school, AAU, and youth leagues, a strategy that aligns with the VBCA’s long‑standing commitment to the sport’s growth.
