UCLA unveiled a moving ceremony in February that celebrated Shannon LeBeauf’s deep roots within the program, highlighting her transition from assistant to associate head coach after a season at Rutgers.
A 14‑Year Partnership
LeBeauf spent fourteen years alongside head coach Cori Close, during which they built two top‑ranked recruiting classes and helped shape UCLA’s rise into a national contender. Her role evolved from recruiting coordinator to associate head coach, a promotion that reflected her impact on the team’s sustained success.
The ceremony also marked her induction into the A STEP UP Assistant Coaches Hall of Fame, recognizing a career defined by player development, strategic insight, and a commitment to elevating the program’s culture.
Mentorship and Legacy
Beyond the X’s and O’s, LeBeauf founded the Leaders in Training mentorship program, a initiative that pairs upperclassmen with underclass athletes to foster growth on and off the court. Her influence extended to notable alumni such as Recee Fox, Jordin Canada, Monique Billings, Lajahna Drummer, Kelli Hayes, Kiki Rice, Gabriela Jaquez, Londynn Jones, Christeen Iwuala, and Lina Sontag, many of whom credit her guidance for their professional trajectories.
She replaces Michaela Onyenwere, who departed for the WNBA, and will now help steer the Bruins as they aim to maintain their elite recruiting standards. Cori Close praised LeBeuf’s exceptional recruiting skills and mentorship programs, noting that her presence will continue to shape the team’s future.
