A Festival With a Global Twist
The event kicked off at noon in Fall River, Massachusetts, transforming Kennedy Park into a vibrant hub where fans could experience the excitement of the World Cup without leaving their hometown.
Massachusetts Youth Soccer organized the traveling festival as part of its Soccer Forward initiative, aiming to bring the magic of the global tournament to local neighborhoods. The program partnered with the U.S. Soccer Foundation to expand its reach across the state.
Executive Director Rob Holliday explained that the decision to host the festival in Fall River was driven by the city’s passionate Portuguese community, a factor that made the location an obvious choice for the event.
Attendees enjoyed a mix of activities, from inflatable soccer fields that let children and adults play side by side to interactive games and a variety of food trucks offering diverse culinary options.
Live viewing parties streamed two World Cup matches on large screens, allowing fans to cheer together and share the camaraderie that only a major tournament can generate.
The festival’s organizers emphasized that these pop‑up events will continue to roll out across Massachusetts, creating ongoing opportunities for communities to connect through sport and celebration.
