The University of Florida announced this week that Rich Dorman will take over as its new pitching coach, bringing a decade of collegiate expertise to the program.
A Strategic Addition for the Gators
Dorman arrives after a successful stint at Oregon State, where he guided a staff that posted the nation’s best ERA, hits allowed per nine innings and WHIP last season.
During his tenure with the Beavers, the rotation set a school record for strikeouts in a single season and produced 21 players who were selected in the MLB draft, including 11 who earned All‑American honors.
Prior to his college career, Dorman spent eight years in the Seattle Mariners organization, rising through the minor‑league ranks to serve as a pitching coach and develop several future major‑league arms.
Head coach Kevin O'Sullivan praised the hire, saying Dorman’s proven ability to maximize talent aligns perfectly with Florida’s tradition of excellence on the mound.
Dorman expressed enthusiasm about joining the Gators, noting the program’s passionate fan base and the opportunity to contribute to a culture that consistently competes at the highest level.
