The 2026 flag football season in Polk County concluded with a series of standout performances that have reshaped the local sports landscape.
Haines City finished the year at 9‑4, capturing three district championships and cementing its reputation as a perennial contender.
Coaching Excellence Recognized
Auburndale, under the guidance of Coach of the Year Gloria Choquette, secured its first district title in school history, finishing 12‑4 and showing steady growth throughout the campaign.
At the heart of Auburndale’s success was Player of the Year Zebrielle Canaday, who amassed 901 passing yards, 1,156 rushing yards and 50 flag pulls, earning a full scholarship to Livingstone College in North Carolina.
Other key contributors included Mikayla Hill of Haines City, who recorded 52 receptions for 741 yards and four touchdowns, and Janae Blocker from Auburndale, who added 768 rushing yards and nine scores.
George Jenkins also demonstrated marked improvement, with Myah Batts throwing for 1,213 yards and 19 touchdowns, while Winter Haven’s Quin Sanders posted 54 catches for 819 yards and 13 touchdowns.
The achievements reflect a deepening talent pool and a competitive spirit that promises even greater excitement in the years ahead.
