Nevada's men's basketball program kicked off its summer training camp on Tuesday, launching an eight‑week conditioning period that permits up to eight hours of work per week, with four of those hours reserved for on‑court skill instruction.
A Blend of Experience and New Faces
Only four athletes from last season's squad returned: Elijah Price, Vaughn Weems, Peyton White, and Myles Walker. The roster now welcomes six transfers — Peter Bandelj, Simon Majok, Styles Phipps, Cedric Lath, Keyon Kensie Jr., and TJ Coulter — who have already joined the campus community, along with four freshmen: SJ Madison, Hudson Lucas, John Mattingly, and Kade Snyder.
Most of the newcomers are already on campus and took part in the first on‑court session, giving the coaching staff an early glimpse of how the new pieces might fit together.
Strategic Use of Summer Sessions
Head coach Steve Alford stressed that the summer weeks are a critical window for team bonding and skill refinement, noting that the program will take the group to Lake Tahoe a couple of times before the fall semester begins. He also hinted that the team's scholarship agreements may not extend beyond three or four years, underscoring the urgency of making the most of this training window.
With a fresh mix of talent and a structured approach to conditioning, the Wolf Pack hopes to build chemistry early and enter the upcoming season with a cohesive unit ready to compete.
