The North Carolina Tar Heels erupted in a 12-7 victory over the West Virginia Mountaineers on Tuesday night, a performance that propelled them into the championship series of the Men’s College World Series.
Owen Hull was the catalyst at the plate, delivering four hits that included a single, two doubles and a triple, while Gavin Gallaher added four runs batted in and made key defensive plays.
Freshman right-hander Jackson Rose stepped onto the mound and tossed 4 ⅓ innings of solid pitching, earning the win and showcasing the depth of the Tar Heels’ rotation.
The bullpen also contributed, with relievers Folger Boaz, Chansen Cole and Ian Korn each handling portions of the game, though Cole gave up four runs in his stint.
North Carolina’s offense set a new program record for runs scored in the tournament, improving to 28-0 whenever Caden Glauber takes the mound, underscoring the team’s confidence heading into the next round.

The Tar Heels now await the winner of the Georgia versus Oklahoma matchup, with the championship series scheduled to begin Saturday, promising a best-of-three showdown that could crown a new national champion.
