A Boost for the Tigers' 2027 Class
Four-star running back Trey Martin, a top prospect from Louisiana, announced his commitment to LSU on Tuesday, choosing the Tigers over several SEC rivals.
Martin, ranked No. 6 among Louisiana’s 2027 cohort and the state’s highest-rated running back, is the third back to pledge to LSU’s upcoming class, which has risen to No. 9 nationally.
The decision marks a rare stay-in-state choice, as the player said he wanted to remain in Louisiana rather than venture elsewhere.
He evaluated offers from Ole Miss and Florida, programs that were among the SEC teams he visited, before landing on LSU.
Martin’s recruitment journey included a series of official visits to SEC campuses, culminating in a final trip to Baton Rouge on June 12, where he signed his commitment.
The surge in LSU’s recruiting class follows a 14-spot jump in the national rankings since Monday, now sitting at No. 9, while the Tigers are positioned No. 4 among SEC 2027 recruits.
