The Philadelphia Flyers announced on Tuesday that they have secured the services of goaltender Aleksei Kolosov through the 2026‑27 season, agreeing to a one‑year contract that carries an average annual value of $850,000.
Kolosov, who turned 24 earlier this year, spent the bulk of the 2025‑26 campaign with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, posting a 15‑21‑2 record while posting a 2.98 goals‑against average and a .895 save percentage across 38 appearances.
Although his NHL résumé remains limited to 21 games, the Russian‑born netminder has already shown flashes of promise, including a 5‑11‑1 record in the league and four appearances this season.
A Journey Across Continents
Drafted in the third round of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft, Kolosov honed his craft in the KHL with Dinamo Minsk, where he compiled a 49‑56‑10 record over 120 regular‑season games and earned All‑Star honors in consecutive seasons.
Before arriving in North America, Kolosov distinguished himself in the KHL, where his performances earned him spots at the All‑Star Game in both 2022‑23 and 2023‑24, underscoring his status among the league’s emerging talents.
His transition to the AHL with the Phantoms provided a platform to adapt to the smaller rink dimensions and North American style of play, a shift that appears to be paying dividends as he looks to push for more NHL minutes.
General manager Daniel Briere praised the move, stating that the extension reflects the organization’s belief in the youngster’s upside and his potential to grow into a more prominent role.
