The University of Utah men’s basketball program is turning its focus to the 2026‑27 season, hoping to rebound from a campaign that left it at the bottom of the Big 12 standings.
A packed nonconference slate
The nonconference schedule features a mix of mid‑major opponents and a marquee return to the East Coast, with games scheduled against Towson, Weber State and Eastern Washington, and a rematch with Washington that will take place in Salt Lake City.
As part of the Charleston Classic, the Utes will meet Oklahoma State, Dayton, Northwestern, Minnesota and Virginia Tech, a tournament that traditionally tests teams with varied styles of play.
Big 12 battle lines
Back home, California and Washington are set to visit the Huntsman Center for a home‑and‑home series, giving the team a chance to showcase its improvements in front of its own fans.
The Big 12 schedule, released by the conference, pairs Utah with a familiar set of rivals. Home matchups will include BYU, Colorado, Oklahoma State, Baylor, Cincinnati, Kansas, Kansas State, Texas Tech and West Virginia, while road trips will take the team to Arizona, Arizona State, UCF, Houston, Iowa State and TCU.
Of the conference slate, the Utes will play BYU, Colorado and Oklahoma State twice, the only three opponents they will meet on a home‑and‑home basis. After winning just two road conference games over the past two seasons, the coaching staff and players are eager to turn those narrow victories into a broader pattern of success.
