A Summer of Service
The Prescott American Legion baseball squad recently turned a summer heatwave into an opportunity to give back to the community by improving the Legion's Flag Memorial.
Players, coaches and volunteers spent a sweltering day installing more than 1,000 square feet of fresh sod around the memorial, transforming the site with new green turf and a tidy landscape.
Their hands‑on work not only improved the memorial’s appearance but also reinforced the organization’s long‑standing commitment to youth sports and civic pride.
The effort was part of a broader initiative by the American Legion to preserve and enhance the Flag Memorial, a tribute to veterans, service members and the values they defend.
Community members can contribute to the ongoing project by purchasing commemorative bricks, a program that helps fund future expansions of the memorial.
Those interested in buying a brick can receive assistance from Chad Steger at the Prescott office of First National Bank, while additional information is available from Jerry Klasen.
Local leaders praised the teamwork displayed by the young athletes, noting that such service projects embody the spirit of volunteerism that the Legion champions.
