USC Secures Four Preseason All-Big Ten Honors as Players Eye Breakout Seasons

Quarterback Jayden Maiava, running back Waymond Jordan, linebacker Jadyn Walker and cornerback Jontez Williams earn recognition ahead of the 2025 campaign.

The Trojans entered the 2025 preseason conversation with a notable presence on Phil Steele's All-Big Ten teams, as four individual players received nods that highlighted the program's depth and potential.

Preseason All-Big Ten Selections

Quarterback Jayden Maiava earned a third‑team slot after a breakout year that saw him throw for a career‑high 3,711 yards and 30 total touchdowns. His rapid development has positioned him as a central figure in the offense.

Running back Waymond Jordan, who amassed 576 rushing yards and five scores on 6.5 yards per carry before a season‑ending ankle injury, was also recognized on the third team. His efficiency and burst made him one of the most productive backs early in the campaign.

Linebacker Jadyn Walker, a redshirt freshman, contributed 33 tackles, four tackles for loss and a pass breakup, earning a spot among the defensive selections. His emergence adds a versatile element to the Trojans' front seven.

Cornerback Jontez Williams, praised as one of the Big 12's top cover artists, brings 15 career starts, 19 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, three pass breakups and an interception to the Trojans' secondary. He is expected to be a plug‑and‑play starter from day one.

The preseason honors are part of a larger tally: USC finished with six total selections, highlighted by first‑team picks Makai Lemon and Bishop Fitzgerald. Their acknowledgment underscores the program's competitive edge within the conference.

Looking Ahead

Coach Lincoln Riley emphasized that the preseason accolades are a testament to the players' hard work and the staff's development pipeline. He noted that the team will rely on the experience of veterans like King Miller, Desman Stephens and Deven Bryant to translate early recognition into sustained success on the field.
