Calvary Day's Summer Basketball Camp Fosters Growth
In June, Calvary Day opened its campus to a multi-day girls basketball camp that attracted schools from across Savannah, offering a series of summer exhibitions designed to sharpen skills and build camaraderie.
Head coach Kevin Furtado, who has led the program for several seasons, took the opportunity to stress the value of perseverance, urging participants to view each drill as a chance to improve rather than a test of immediate success.
Furtado noted that 16 different schools traveled to the campus, underscoring the camp’s role as a regional hub for talent development and community engagement.
Beyond competition, the event was framed as a platform to promote basketball throughout Savannah and to showcase the growth of the sport on Calvary Day’s own grounds, reinforcing the school’s commitment to athletic excellence and youth outreach.
