Midwest Live Showcase Brings Top Talent to Sandusky
From June 19 to 20, Sandusky, Ohio, will host the Girls Midwest Live basketball showcase, a two‑day gathering that draws 109 teams from Ohio, Michigan, West Virginia and Pennsylvania. The event provides a stage for high‑school programs to test themselves against some of the region’s strongest competition while also fostering camaraderie among players and coaches.
Strasburg arrives as the recent Division VII state champions, having captured the title just three months ago. The Tigers will be joined by local rivals Tusky Valley, Hiland and New Philadelphia, each bringing their own brand of grit and skill to the tournament.
Among the standout athletes for Strasburg are Lydia Thomas and Delanee Herron. Thomas has earned a spot in the All‑Star game representing the class of 2029, while Herron is listed among the eleven must‑watch players of that same graduating cohort.
The showcase is more than a scoreboard battle; coaches emphasize growth and team bonding as primary objectives. Players are expected to learn new strategies, sharpen their abilities and enjoy the experience of competing at a higher level.
Beyond the tournament, the region’s athletic community celebrates recent achievements, with ten local athletes earning All‑State honors across various classes. The upcoming season for Strasburg and the Tigers officially begins on November 23, setting the stage for another promising year.
As the teams prepare to take the court, the excitement is palpable. Fans can look forward to a weekend of high‑intensity basketball, emerging talent and the kind of community spirit that defines high‑school sports in the Midwest.
