A Historic Matchup Looms
The University of Texas Longhorns are set to welcome the Ole Miss Rebels for a three-game series that begins on March 13, 2026, at the iconic UFCU Disch-Falk Field in Austin.
Both programs enter the matchup with impressive credentials: Texas sits at No. 2 in the national rankings, boasting a perfect 16-0 start that marks their strongest opening stretch in more than two decades, while Ole Miss arrives as the defending national champion and the preseason favorite in the SEC.
The Longhorns hold a historic edge, leading the all-time series 15-6 and having won eight of the last ten meetings, the most recent a 10-0 victory on February 15, 2025.
This season the team has outscored opponents 162-40 across 16 contests, employing a potent offense that ranks ninth nationally in OPS at 1.055 and eleventh in batting average at .340, while the pitching staff enjoys a stellar 2.42 ERA, the third-best mark in the country, and a WHIP of 1.03.
Defensively, Texas flaunts a .989 fielding percentage, fourth best among Division I programs, underscoring a well-rounded squad that excels in every facet of the game.
Since the venue opened in 1975, the Longhorns have compiled a home record of 1,673-427-3, and they continue to draw massive crowds; as of March 12 they have welcomed 84,296 fans to Disch-Falk this season, placing them seventh nationally in attendance.
The upcoming series will also serve as a tribute to former players, with the program’s traDISCHion initiative planning to honor past legends throughout the 2026 campaign, adding a layer of nostalgia for long-time supporters.
Coach Jim Schlossnagle and his staff, alongside veteran voices such as Mike Bianco, J. Brent Cox, Adrian Alaniz, Chance Ruffin, Taylor Teagarden and Dustin Majewski, are expected to leverage the team’s depth and experience as they aim to extend their unbeaten streak and make a deep run in conference play.
