Championship Matchups Defined
The Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Association’s State Baseball Tournament is now into its decisive stage, with championship matchups across Divisions 1 through 4 finalized and the excitement palpable across the state.
In Division 2, Pewaukee clinched a spot in the title game after a 2‑1 victory over Somerset. The game turned on an error in the fourth inning that allowed the winning run to score, while both Blayke Duvall of Pewaukee and Mason Schmidt of Somerset limited their opponents to four hits and combined for 17 strikeouts.
The other Division 2 semifinal saw Kenosha St. Joseph Catholic defeat Waupun 5‑3, with Dominic Santarelli delivering a two‑RBI performance that helped swing the contest.
Division 1’s final will feature Kaukauna against the winner of a rain‑delayed matchup between Madison Memorial and Muskego, which is set to resume at noon today; the victor will meet Kaukauna at 6:05 p.m. in the championship.
Kaukauna already secured its place in the final after a rescheduled 7‑1 win over Nicolet, a game in which Kaden Kress and Brayden Jenkins each drove in two runs and pitcher Bron Schaefer struck out eight batters while allowing only two runs.
The Division 4 championship will pit Potosi/Cassville against Columbus Catholic, while the Division 3 title game will see Cedar Grove‑Belgium face Dodgeville, completing a full slate of finals that highlight the depth of high school baseball talent in Wisconsin.
