OBCA Inaugural High School Girls Basketball Showcase Takes Shape in Medford

Top programs from Oregon, California, Washington and Nevada converge for a landmark event aimed at elevating the sport and spotlighting the Rogue Valley

The Oregon Basketball Coaches Association (OBCA) has partnered with South Medford High School to launch the inaugural OBCA High School Girls Basketball Showcase, a three‑day competition that brings together some of the most competitive programs from across the western United States.

A Milestone for Oregon Girls Basketball

Four California powerhouses — San Ramon Valley, Clovis West and Mission Hills — join Washington’s A.C. Davis and Nevada’s Spanish Springs, while local squads from North Medford, Grants Pass, Crater and Cascade Christian also take the court. Approximately forty teams will contest the event, drawing scouts from roughly fifty Division I programs.

Cole, who also serves on the OBCA Board of Directors, emphasized that the showcase will operate under strict standards: three certified referees, a 30‑second shot clock and a uniform dress code, all intended to reflect a higher level of class and integrity.

Showcasing the Rogue Valley

Beyond the competition, the event serves as a showcase for Medford’s facilities, with organizers hoping the quality of the venue will attract future tournaments and reinforce the region’s reputation as a hub for basketball excellence.

Looking Ahead

Cole and event partners envision the showcase becoming an annual fixture, with ambitions to expand participation to one hundred teams next year, further cementing its place in the high school basketball calendar.
