Scouting the Future
The MLB Draft combine in Phoenix will bring together 335 of the nation’s top prospects, a mix of college standouts and high school phenoms, all eyeing a spot in the upcoming draft.
Four current Tennessee Volunteers — Henry Ford, Tegan Kuhns, Bo Rhuby and Garrett Wright — have earned invitations, underscoring the program’s continued pipeline to the majors.
Eleven committed players from the Volunteers’ 2026 class also made the cut, including standout infielder Jared Grindlinger, who sits at No. 42 on Perfect Game’s top 300 list, as well as Cannon Grant and a host of other signees such as Condon, Koeninger, Dunlap, McCarthy, Curry, Sullivan, Duggan and Jaxson Wood.
The absence of infielder Blake Grimmer from the list has sparked speculation; the player could turn professional or elect to return to Knoxville for another season, a decision that could reshape the Volunteers’ roster.
Overall, the combine’s composition — 195 collegiate athletes and 145 high school players — reflects the growing breadth of talent feeding into the MLB draft, a trend that last year saw 256 of 309 participants selected.
