Cross County School District Announces New Coaching Staff for Upcoming Season

Ty Mimbs leads a reshaped staff, with Cody Campbell joining as assistant and Kaylee Wolfe taking over softball

The Cross County School District has finalized its football coaching staff under new head coach Ty Mimbs, signaling a fresh direction for the program.

A New Era of Coaching

Cody Campbell, a recent Harding University graduate who spent three years as a middle school science teacher and EAST facilitator at Augusta, will join the T‑Birds as an assistant coach. Campbell previously served as head baseball coach and wide receivers/defensive backs coach at Augusta, bringing a blend of athletic and instructional experience.

He replaces Connor Haag, who transitioned to a similar role at Jonesboro Westside before moving on to become an assistant under Randy Coleman at Wynne. Haag’s departure follows the arrival of Tyler Gahr, who has now shifted to an assistant position under Coleman, illustrating a ripple effect across neighboring districts.

In baseball, Tyler Walls has taken over as head coach, succeeding Alex Coveny, who has returned to the Marion School District. Campbell will also lend his expertise as an assistant under Walls, integrating his recent state‑championship experience from Harding Academy.

Kaylee Wolfe steps into the softball coaching role, succeeding Haag, while current Cross County Elementary P.E. teacher Amy Smith has been appointed as Wolfe’s assistant, ensuring continuity in the program’s instructional staff.

The district says the new lineup reflects a commitment to developing well‑rounded coaches who can mentor student‑athletes both on the field and in the classroom, setting the stage for an exciting season across multiple sports.
