Syracuse University announced this week that Shaun Belbey, a former walk‑on who earned a scholarship and spent five seasons with the Orange, has been named the men’s basketball producer and videographer.
A career built on film
Belbey’s playing days at Syracuse included 18 appearances and three All‑ACC Academic Honor Roll selections, while he simultaneously pursued a degree that earned him a place on the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll for five semesters.
After graduation he honed his craft with Pure Sweat Basketball, where he helped design workouts for NBA standouts such as Jayson Tatum and Joel Embiid, and later joined the staff of the Texas Legends, the G‑League affiliate of the Dallas Mavericks, before returning to the university as a video coordinator for the women’s program.
His most recent role was head video coordinator for the Long Island Nets, where he oversaw all video operations, managed opponent scouting footage and contributed to the team’s 2025 G‑League campaign.
In his new position at Syracuse, Belbey will record and break down games, maintain the program’s video library, and produce recruiting videos, working closely with head coach Gerry McNamara and the rest of the coaching staff.
Beyond the Orange, Belbey has been an active figure in the basketball community, serving as an assistant coach and general manager for Boeheim’s Army in The Basketball Tournament and contributing to Overtime Elite’s championship coverage.
The appointment underscores Syracuse’s commitment to integrating advanced analytics and multimedia storytelling into its basketball program, positioning the team for continued growth on and off the court.
