The Cleveland State Athletics Department is reviving its popular “Hoops & Scoops” series for the summer of 2026, teaming up with Mitchell’s Ice Cream to blend basketball excitement with a sweet treat.
Fans will have the chance to meet players, coaches and athletic staff at a series of pop‑up gatherings across the Cleveland metro area, where the first 20 supporters wearing Viking gear at each stop will walk away with a complimentary scoop.
The series kicks off on June 30 and runs through early August, with each event scheduled from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., giving families and alumni a convenient evening outing.
Community Connection Through Sport and Sweets
Stops are planned in Shaker Heights, Avon, Strongsville, Solon and Westlake, spreading the experience across the region and allowing more community members to take part.
Organizers promise a variety of giveaways, including branded merchandise, game tickets and other Cleveland State prizes, adding an extra layer of excitement to the evenings.
By partnering with select Mitchell’s Ice Cream locations, the initiative highlights a collaborative effort to support local businesses while promoting the university’s athletic programs.
The schedule offers a regular cadence of events, with each date featuring a unique location but the same core activities, ensuring a fresh experience for repeat attendees.
For those looking to combine basketball talk with a taste of Cleveland’s favorite ice cream, the “Hoops & Scoops” tour presents a low‑cost, high‑energy way to stay engaged with the university’s teams throughout the summer.
