A Road‑Heavy Opening
The Big Ten announced the 2026‑27 hockey schedule on June 18, 2024, and Michigan State’s lineup reads like a test of endurance. The Spartans will open Big Ten play on the road, with five of their first six conference games away from East Lansing, setting a demanding tone for the campaign.
That early stretch includes a two‑game series at Notre Dame in mid‑November, followed by trips to Wisconsin and Minnesota, before the team finally returns to Munn Ice Arena for its first home conference series.
Nonconference games against Northern Michigan, Rochester Institute of Technology, the University of New Hampshire, the University of North Dakota and Boston University will punctuate the schedule, while two exhibition matchups versus Boston College and the U.S. National Team Development Program remain to be finalized.
Home‑Ice Finale
The latter half of the season flips the script, as Michigan State wraps up with four of its final five series at home, highlighted by a showdown against Minnesota in early December and a rivalry series versus Michigan in early February. The schedule culminates with home series against Notre Dame and Ohio State, giving the Spartans a chance to cement their place at the top of the Big Ten.
