Troy Bolsters Its Coaching Staff
Troy University announced Thursday that head coach Adam Howard has added Franklin Miskelly to his assistant coaching lineup, a move that signals a fresh infusion of analytical expertise and SEC-level experience into the Trojans' bench.
Miskelly's journey to Troy reads like a circuit of rising programs. After stints as a graduate assistant at Winston Academy in Louisville and two years at Southern Miss, he climbed to a graduate assistantship at Mississippi State, where the Bulldogs posted 39 wins over two seasons and captured a 2022-23 NCAA Tournament berth.
His next stop was a two-year tenure as director of video and analytics at Kansas State, a period that culminated in a 35-win campaign and an NIT appearance in 2024.
A Coach With Proven SEC Pedigree
During his time in Manhattan, Miskelly helped shepherd four players to All-Big 12 honors, including Arthur Kaluma, Tylor Perry, Coleman Hawkins and David N’Guessan, and he played a key role in the development of SEC standouts Iverson Molinar and Tolu Smith while at Mississippi State.
In a statement, Miskelly expressed admiration for Troy Athletics and gratitude for the chance to work alongside Howard, noting that the university’s commitment to competition aligns with his own ambitions.
Howard, for his part, highlighted Miskelly’s ability to connect with players and his potential to elevate the program’s recruiting profile and community engagement.
The hiring also underscores a broader trend of programs seeking analysts who can translate data into on-court adjustments, a need that Troy appears eager to meet as it looks to sharpen its competitive edge in the coming seasons.
