A New Chapter for the Razorbacks
Ilia Frolov, a 6‑foot‑11 Russian center, has officially committed to the University of Arkansas, bringing a blend of size, shooting and rebounding to a program that is eager to reload after a strong previous season.
Coach John Calipari, who announced the signing on Tuesday, highlighted Frolov’s 13.5 points and 7.4 rebounds per game from his stint with Real Madrid’s Under‑22 side, as well as a 52.8% overall field‑goal percentage and 36% accuracy from three‑point range.
Frolov will join a freshman class that includes five‑star recruits Miikka Muurinen, Jordan Smith Jr., Abdou Toure and JJ Andrews, a group that could reshape the Razorbacks’ interior and perimeter dynamics.
The frontcourt will also feature returning players Cooper Bowser and Paulo Semedo, giving the staff a mix of experience and high‑upside talent as they fine‑tune chemistry during the preseason.
Arkansas will test that chemistry on a summer tour of The Bahamas, where the team is slated to play four games in five days against international opposition, a trip that promises to be both a competitive and bonding experience.
Fans can look forward to seeing how the Russian big man meshes with the incoming talent and whether his shooting touch translates to the SEC stage, a storyline that will unfold over the coming months.
