A Season of Accolades
The Michigan high school girls soccer scene is buzzing after the release of the state’s All‑State teams, a list that reads like a who’s who of Macomb County talent. Gabby Gojcaj of Utica Eisenhower and Samantha Curtis of Macomb L’Anse Creuse North headline a deep contingent of local players who earned honors ranging from the elite All‑State Dream Team to division‑specific first‑team selections.
Gojcaj, who finished the season with 26 goals, not only secured a spot on the 11‑member Dream Team but also earned Division 1 All‑State First Team accolades. Her contributions helped the Eagles capture the MAC Red Division title, a testament to her leadership on the field. Across the county, Samantha Curtis matched that impact with 28 goals and 15 assists, setting a new single‑season point record for L’Anse Creuse North and guiding her squad to a standout campaign.
The recognition extends beyond the two headline names. Sadie Walsh of Saline was crowned Miss Soccer, while Division 2 standout Charley McIntyre from St. Clair Shores and Division 4 forward AvaLee Pomper from Memphis also earned First Team honors. Pomper’s 76 goals broke the Macomb County single‑season scoring record, underscoring the breadth of talent that pervades the region.
Several of these standouts have already locked in their collegiate destinations. Gojcaj will continue her career at the University of Detroit Mercy, while Curtis heads to Utah Valley University. Other local players have committed to institutions such as the University of Toledo, Delta College, and Saginaw Valley State University, a pipeline that the Michigan High School Soccer Coaches Association has long nurtured.
The ripple effect of these achievements reaches across the state, with players from just outside Macomb County’s borders also making the All‑State lists. As the next season looms, the spotlight remains on a generation that has turned local clubs into launchpads for statewide and national recognition.
