Rowan County’s American Legion squad rolled past Mocksville 15‑5 on Tuesday, ending the contest after six innings by the mercy rule. The victory showcased a balanced attack that combined power hitting with patient plate discipline.
Offensive explosion
Cole Blevins led the charge, delivering three hits and driving in five runs, highlighted by a three‑run homer in the third inning that put Rowan firmly in control.
Blevins finished the game with a season‑high five RBIs and added two runs, raising his tally to 25 runs and 22 RBIs for the year. His performance anchored a lineup that posted eleven hits and drew eleven walks.
Maddox Moore contributed a run‑scoring double in the fourth, while Carter Durant launched his third homer of the season in the sixth to seal the win. The rest of the roster — Dylan Alexander, Jacob Prevette, Gaige Scruggs, Cam Williamson, Abel Brown, Brant Grant, Kendal Sifford, Drew Pegram, Maverick Walters, Luke Pierce, Dallas Mantz and Jayven Parks — each added a hit or a walk that pushed the score further.
Rowan will travel to Wilmington this weekend for a four‑game series, a stretch that could influence the team’s playoff seeding as the Southern Division of Area 3 contracts to eight teams following Stanly’s withdrawal.
Coaches praised the depth of talent on display, noting that the win not only boosts morale but also signals a promising outlook as the club prepares for the upcoming schedule.
