A bipartisan resolution honoring the late NASCAR driver Kyle Busch cleared the Senate this week, recognizing the driver’s extraordinary contributions to the sport and the broader American racing community.
Senators Ted Budd and Thom Tillis of North Carolina joined forces with Nevada’s Catherine Cortez Masto and Jacky Rosen to sponsor the measure, underscoring the widespread respect Busch commanded across party lines and state borders.
Busch’s career spanned 19 consecutive seasons with at least one Cup Series victory, the longest streak in NASCAR history, and he finished as the winningest driver across the three national series with a total of 234 race wins.
Beyond the numbers, Busch was celebrated for delivering thrilling performances that captivated fans and earned the admiration of rival drivers, a testament to his competitive spirit and sportsmanship.
The resolution also highlighted his role as a mentor, noting that he guided his son Brexton Busch as the younger driver began his own journey in motorsports.
Busch died from complications of bacterial pneumonia, including sepsis and hemorrhagic shock, leaving behind his wife and two children. His family described him as a future Hall of Famer and a rare talent in NASCAR.
