Dimitri Carr Appointed Head Football Coach at Union Parish High School

Former Grambling Star Brings State‑Semifinal Experience to Rural Louisiana Program

Dimitri Carr, a former standout athlete and seasoned coach, has been named the new head football coach at Union Parish High School, bringing a blend of championship pedigree and developmental philosophy to the rural Louisiana program.

Carr’s football journey began in Farmerville, where he was a key member of the 2001 state championship team, earning All‑State and All‑District honors that set the stage for a collegiate career at Grambling State University.

At Grambling, he played under the tutelage of Super Bowl MVP Coach Doug Williams, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology while absorbing the program’s disciplined ethos.

Following his playing days, Carr returned to Grambling as a coach and defensive coordinator for four seasons before taking the helm at Arcadia High School in 2013, guiding the team to the state semifinals and also serving as Athletic Director and Health & Physical Education teacher.

Building a Future of Character

His leadership style emphasizes character development, aiming to ‘build young men’ both on and off the field, a philosophy that resonates with the community’s values.

Carr’s appointment comes as Union Parish looks to leverage his proven track record of turning programs into contenders, hoping his experience will translate into sustained success for the local team.

The school board and community members alike have voiced confidence that Carr’s blend of technical acumen and mentorship will revitalize the program, fostering not only athletic achievement but also personal growth among its players.
