Clarkson Hockey announced the promotion of Mike Clougherty to assistant coach, a move that underscores the program’s focus on continuity and development.
Leadership Praises the New Addition
During his two‑year stint as a graduate assistant, he helped the Golden Knights achieve notable success under head coach JF Houle, contributing to recruiting strategies and on‑ice player development.
Prior to his time at Clarkson, Clougherty served as associate head coach of the Valley Jr. Warriors and founded Claw Hockey, a Massachusetts‑based player development program that has trained numerous prospects.
A Strategic Addition to the Coaching Roster
In his new role, he will oversee player development, assist with recruiting, and manage operational tasks, a blend of duties that Houle says reflects Clougherty’s dedication and work ethic.
Houle praised the newcomer, stating, “Mike’s commitment to the student‑athlete experience is exactly what we need as we continue to build on our tradition of excellence.”
The promotion also signals the staff’s broader commitment to integrating academic excellence with athletic performance, a philosophy that aligns with both Clarkson and Boston College’s institutional values.
