Majay Thompson, a 6‑foot, 186‑pound wide receiver from Crest High School in North Carolina, announced his commitment to Florida State University on Wednesday, choosing the Seminoles over a final slate that included Georgia, Alabama and Wake Forest.
Ranked as the state’s top receiver in the 2027 class and listed as the No. 17 overall recruit, Thompson capped a stellar senior season that helped Crest capture the 2025 NCHSAA 5A championship. His 53 catches for 865 yards and 13 touchdowns, plus a punt return for a score, underscored his playmaking ability.
Why the Seminoles prevailed
Florida State’s aggressive recruiting strategy, combined with a clear pathway to early playing time, resonated with Thompson, who cited the program’s recent resurgence and its emphasis on developing receivers as decisive factors.
The commitment marks a significant win for the Seminoles, who will now integrate one of the most highly touted prospects in the state into their 2027 roster, bolstering their offensive outlook for the coming years.
