A Father's Grief and a Daughter's Legacy
Jeremiah Samarrippas, a coach for the Wofford Terriers men’s basketball team, announced on June 18 that his 22‑month‑old daughter Amelia has died, sharing a heartfelt message on X that expressed the depth of his grief and love.
Amelia was remembered by both parents as a radiant child whose joyful, caring nature brought happiness to everyone she encountered, from teammates to friends.
The toddler had recently become a big sister to her newborn brother Jase, a bond that both parents described as profound, with Amelia constantly wanting to help and be near him.
Brooke Samarrippas posted an Instagram tribute, calling Amelia a beautiful, fun, loving, smart, joyful and caring little girl, and recalling how she cheered at basketball games and danced to the music that played.
Turning Grief Into Purpose
The couple plans to hold an honor walk for Amelia on Saturday, promising to share more details as they navigate this difficult time and ask for continued prayers from the public.
In addition to their personal mourning, Jeremiah and Brooke intend to channel their loss into a mission to help other families, supporting causes that aim to keep babies safe and honoring Amelia’s memory through charitable action.
