Sam Dekker has been named an assistant coach at the University of South Carolina, where he will work under head coach Lamont Paris and help shape the Gamecocks' on‑court strategy.
The hiring brings a player with deep ties to Paris, having spent three seasons at the University of Wisconsin under his tutelage from 2012 to 2015.
During his collegiate career Dekker helped the Badgers compile a 91‑24 record and reach the Final Four in back‑to‑back years, earning two All‑Big Ten selections and the 2015 NCAA West Regional Most Outstanding Player honor.
His achievements also include being named the 2012 Wisconsin Gatorade Player of the Year and a Parade All‑American after leading Sheboygan Lutheran to its first state championship.
After college Dekker enjoyed a 11‑year professional career that included 201 NBA games for five different franchises and a standout season with the London Lions in 2022‑23.
Selected 18th overall in the 2015 NBA Draft by the Houston Rockets, he brings a blend of NBA experience and international success to his new coaching role.
Off the court, Dekker and his wife Olivia are parents to two young sons, Harlan and Christian, and he says he is eager to mentor players both on and off the hardwood.
