Kevin Magnussen, a 33‑year‑old Danish driver who spent several seasons in Formula One, is preparing to step onto the NASCAR stage in a Chevrolet fielded by Trackhouse Racing.
The debut comes after a full‑time stint with the Haas F1 Team in 2024, where Magnussen accumulated a diverse racing résumé that includes endurance and sportscar events.
Speaking about his move, Magnussen said he has long admired NASCAR, a fascination sparked by his father’s positive experience in the sport, and he is eager to feel the unique blend of toughness and leniency that defines the series.
He has already received counsel from former world champion Jenson Button, who warned him to respect the aggressive, close‑quarters racing that characterizes NASCAR competition.
During Friday’s opening practice at the California venue, Magnussen finished 29th among 39 entries, a modest position that he views as a starting point for quickly acclimating to the car and the track.
Despite limited preparation time, the Danish driver remains focused on extracting feedback, mastering the handling characteristics of the Project 91 Chevrolet, and proving that his Formula One pedigree can translate to the American stock‑car environment.
A New Chapter in American Racing
Trackhouse Racing, a young organization co‑founded by former driver Justin Marks, has positioned the No. 91 entry as a showcase for innovative engineering and cross‑disciplinary talent, enlisting Magnussen to test the limits of its Project 91 initiative.
