Charles Woodson Jr., the son of Michigan legend Charles Woodson, announced his commitment to the University of Michigan on Wednesday, bringing a familiar name back to Ann Arbor.
A Legacy Rewritten in Ann Arbor
At 5‑foot‑11 and 160 pounds, the three‑star defensive back from Lake Nona, Florida, finished his junior season with 73 tackles, two interceptions and eight pass breakups, numbers that helped him field offers from Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, Louisville, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Kentucky and several other programs.
What set Michigan apart was the intensity of the recruitment effort, with five Wolverines coaches making a trip to his school in January, underscoring the staff’s priority on the prospect.
Woodson Jr. said he will play free safety at Michigan, a position that could benefit from his ball‑hawking instincts and tackling ability, and he joins a class that already includes four‑star wide receivers Quentin Burrell and Xavier Muhammad.
The commitment brings Michigan’s 2027 recruiting haul to double‑digit members, a haul that could reshape the roster in the coming years and signal a continued push to dominate the Big Ten on the recruiting front.
