A Familiar Face Returns to the Aggie Program
Texas A&M announced this week that Nolan Cain will rejoin the baseball program as associate head coach and recruiting coordinator, a move that fills the vacancy left by Caleb Longley’s resignation in January. The decision marks a homecoming for Cain, who previously served under head coach Jim Schlossnagle from 2022 through 2024.
During his earlier tenure, Cain played a pivotal role in guiding the Aggies to the College World Series semifinals in 2022 and to the championship finals in 2024. His contributions helped cement the program’s recent resurgence on the national stage.
Cain’s expertise in talent acquisition is well documented. Over the past twelve years he has helped assemble eight recruiting classes that cracked the national top ten, with six of those landing inside the top five. Those achievements have positioned Texas A&M as a consistent contender in the SEC and beyond.
What Cain Brings to the Table
Beyond X’s and O’s, Cain is expected to deepen relationships with high‑school coaches across the country and to leverage his network to attract players who can compete at the highest level. Athletic director Jeff Long praised Cain’s “proven ability to identify and develop elite talent” as a key factor in the hiring decision.
The move also signals continuity for a program that has maintained momentum under Schlossnagle’s leadership. By re‑integrating a trusted insider, Texas A&M hopes to preserve the recruiting pipelines that have kept the Aggies competitive year after year.
