The Michigan Wolverines are poised to defend their national championship, having assembled a roster that blends proven experience with fresh talent.
Four of the five starters from the title‑winning squad are set to move on, but the team retains the services of Final Four Most Outstanding Player Elliot Cadeau and forward Trey McKenney, providing continuity and leadership.
In the offseason, Michigan bolstered its frontcourt with the additions of J.P. Estrella, Jalen Reed and Moustapha Thiam, while also welcoming sharpshooter Keaton Wagler, a move that adds depth to the perimeter.
Coach Dusty May, who guided the team to the championship, will rely on a mix of returning veterans and new imports as they aim to repeat the success.
The Odds and the Opponents
The competition, however, is stacked. Duke enters the conversation as the odds‑on favorite at +650, while Florida, Illinois and Michigan State each bring strong returning cores and promising recruits.
Illinois, in particular, appears poised to look similar to last year’s squad, whereas Tennessee’s aggressive portal activity adds another wildcard to the mix.
Odds compilers currently list Michigan at +700, positioning them second behind Duke, a reflection of both the team’s potential and the uncertainty surrounding the ever‑shifting landscape of college basketball.
