A Summer of Skill and Inspiration
The Reaves Brothers Basketball Camps have entered their fifth year, bringing a blend of professional insight and community spirit to the heart of Arkansas. This summer, the brothers chose Valley View, a quiet neighborhood in Jonesboro, as the hub for their week‑long sessions, drawing dozens of eager youngsters.
Spencer Reaves, who has built a solid reputation abroad, took the opportunity to recount his journeys playing in Germany’s top leagues. He noted a 14‑point average per game in the German circuit and an 18‑point night in the European North Basketball League, using those numbers to illustrate the value of disciplined training and adaptability.
His younger brother, Austin Reaves, arrived as one of the most coveted free agents on the NBA market after a breakout stint with the Los Angeles Lakers. Austin emphasized that the camp is as much about mentorship as it is about basketball, encouraging participants to enjoy the game while mastering fundamentals.
Local coaches Jacob Roark and Hans Bowman joined the Reaves brothers, adding their own coaching philosophies to the mix. Together they designed drills that balanced skill development with teamwork, ensuring that each child left the court with a new technique and a smile.
Beyond the drills, the camp’s organizers highlighted the importance of cultural exchange, inviting participants to ask about life overseas and the pathways to collegiate basketball. The blend of instruction, storytelling, and fun has turned the event into a beloved summer tradition for families across the region.
