The Pella Christian softball team secured an 8‑5 victory over Des Moines Christian on Saturday, improving its season record to 8‑7.
Key Performances
Brynn Roozeboom powered the offense with two home runs and five RBIs, while Chloe Snyder added a timely double that plated two runs. Alaina Herdegen’s single later in the game drove in Kennedy Steinkamp, extending the lead to 8‑0 before the Lions rallied.
Des Moines Christian answered in the bottom of the fifth with four runs, narrowing the gap but unable to overcome the early deficit.
Baseball Setback
The Pella Christian baseball squad dropped a 10‑0 decision in five innings, hampered by a quiet offense and a handful of baserunners.
Logan Gallaher managed the only hit for the Eagles with a third‑inning single, while Lewis Menninga, Dean De Ronde and Toby Belzer each drew walks or were hit by pitches to reach base.
Despite the loss, the team fell to 3‑20 on the summer and will enjoy a weekend off before traveling to Pella for the second round of the Tulip City Showdown on Monday.
Both programs look to regroup as they head into the next stretch of competition, with the softball team riding momentum and the baseball side seeking offensive spark.
