PCM Baseball and Softball Split in Weekend Battles

A comeback win for the Mustangs' baseball side and a heartbreaking loss for the softball squad set the stage for a Monday showdown with Nevada.

The PCM baseball team opened the week with a decisive 7‑4 victory over Grand View Christian, a game that highlighted the Mustangs' ability to strike early and maintain pressure throughout.

After jumping ahead in the opening frames, the squad added two runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth, pulling away from a 3‑1 lead and never looking back.

Roston McCarty anchored the pitching staff, delivering 6 1⁄3 innings that yielded only six hits and three runs while striking out six batters. Coby DeRaad provided a spark at the plate, going 3‑4 with a key contribution.

Softball Setback

The #7 ranked Mustang softball team fought back from a 1‑1 tie in the seventh inning only to see Grand View Christian pull ahead with a single run in the eighth, resulting in a 2‑1 loss that extended the series.

Camden Webb threw every inning for the softball side, surrendering five hits and two runs while recording five strikeouts, but the offense could not generate the extra hit needed to force extra innings.

Key contributors at the plate included Hadley Millang, who went 1‑3 with an RBI double, and a quartet of teammates — Libby Winters, Kyra Naeve, Ila Keuning and Lilian Knapp — who each added a hit to the effort.

Both teams will reconvene on Monday to face Nevada, hoping to carry the lessons from Tuesday’s contests into a fresh showdown that could shape the remainder of their seasons.
