Greg Moore’s Contract Not Renewed After Stellar International Coaching Run

The former NTDP head coach leaves after guiding U17 and U18 squads to multiple international medals

A Sudden End to a Promising Tenure

Greg Moore, a former head coach of the National Team Development Program, has had his contract not renewed, bringing an abrupt close to a tenure that saw the program capture multiple international medals.

During his three‑year stint, Moore guided the United States’ top under‑18 boys to a silver medal at the 2025 IIHF World Under‑18 Championships, and earlier helped the team secure a silver in 2023 and a bronze in 2025 at the World Under‑17 Challenge.

He coached the NTDP’s U17 team during the 2023‑24 and 2025‑26 seasons and the U18 team during the 2024‑25 season, shaping a pipeline of talent that now prepares for the next level.

The NTDP teams are based in Plymouth, Michigan, and play in the United States Hockey League when not competing internationally.

Moore previously coached the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League from 2019‑23, and was the head coach of the Chicago Steel of the USHL in 2018‑19, after serving as an assistant coach with the NTDP from 2015‑18.

While his future plans remain unclear, the hockey community will watch closely as the program seeks a successor to continue its tradition of producing world‑class talent.
