Matt Houston, a senior catcher and designated hitter for Louisiana Tech, has been named to the Conference USA 2026 Baseball All-Academic Team, highlighting a rare blend of scholarly dedication and on-field excellence.
Houston maintains a near-perfect 3.95 GPA in the university's Professional Aviation program, a discipline that aligns with his ambition to become a commercial pilot after his collegiate career.
During the current season he is batting .318 with nine home runs, seven doubles, 21 runs batted in and 19 scored runs, posting an on-base plus slugging percentage of 1.177 that underscores his offensive impact.
A Historic Milestone for the Bulldogs
His selection marks the first time a Louisiana Tech player has earned All-Academic honors since 2024 and contributes to a program record of 12 such recognitions since the university joined Conference USA.
Looking Ahead
Beyond the diamond, Houston plans to translate his academic foundation into a professional piloting career, aiming to navigate both the skies and the challenges of a rapidly evolving aviation industry.
