The Louisville Cardinals basketball program has undergone a dramatic transformation heading into the 2027 season, shedding nine of their top contributors from a year ago and welcoming a fresh infusion of talent.
FanDuel’s latest release of the 2027 NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship odds places Louisville at +2200, positioning the team seventh overall and second within the Atlantic Coast Conference behind only Duke.
A Surge of New Faces
The roster overhaul includes six transfers from the portal and three members of the 2026 recruiting class, among them standout signees Flory Bidunga, Obinna Ekezie Jr., Jackson Shelstad, Adrian Wooley, Karter Knox, De'Shayne Montgomery and Alvaro Folgueiras.
Head coach Pat Kelsey, who took over the program last year, has already begun to shape a competitive unit that ESPN analyst Joe Lunardi projects as a No. 2 seed in the upcoming tournament.
The team’s odds trail only Florida (+600) and Duke (+700), while Kentucky, the in‑state rival, sits further down the board at +4500, underscoring the shifting balance of power in the region.
With a blend of experienced transfers and highly touted freshmen, Louisville aims to translate its strong odds into a deep tournament run, potentially reshaping expectations for the ACC and the nation at large.
