Oklahoma State’s baseball program is entering a pivotal phase as it seeks to shore up a pitching rotation that lost two of its most reliable arms ahead of the 2027 campaign.
The Transfer Portal Brings Fresh Arms
The Cowboys have turned to the transfer portal to inject fresh talent, welcoming five newcomers who bring a mix of experience and upside. Among them, right‑hander Noah Kenney from Washington and left‑hander Will Jordan from Texas Tech are slated to anchor the weekend series rotation and provide depth in relief.
Kenney arrives after a junior season in which he led the Huskies with 74.2 innings pitched, 83 strikeouts and twelve starts, showcasing the durability and command that attracted the Cowboys’ staff. Jordan, meanwhile, posted a 4.97 ERA and 15 strikeouts in his sophomore year at Texas Tech, a profile that suggests he could thrive in a middle‑relief role.
The newcomers also include Tyler Wood, Ben Leikam and Kaden Soder, each bringing distinct credentials. Wood’s recent collegiate stint added depth, while Leikam’s 1.97 ERA and 42 strikeouts at North Greenville highlight a strong command profile. Soder went 3‑0 with a 4.84 ERA at Utah, offering a proven track record of winning performances.
A Position Player to Watch
Complementing the pitching additions, infielder Aubrey Kearns joins from Morehead State, where he posted a .387/.622/.471 slash line and a 1.093 OPS in 2026. His on‑base versatility and power potential give the Cowboys another weapon in the lineup as they aim to balance offense and defense.
Coaches say the influx of talent not only fills the void left by Brennan Phillips and Mario Pesca but also creates competition that could elevate the entire staff. With depth across the rotation and bullpen, the program hopes to remain competitive in the Big 12 and contend for postseason play.
