Cal-Hi Sports Announces 44th Annual All-State Baseball Nominees

Recognizing top high school players across Southern California sections

Cal-Hi Sports has unveiled the list of nominees for its 44th annual All-State Baseball Teams, a prestigious honor that spotlights the best high school talent from across Southern California.

The nominees come from three distinct CIF sections – the L.A. City Section, the San Diego Section and the Southern Section – each bringing its own brand of competition to the roster.

Standout Hitters

Among the standout hitters is Hamza Hatahet of Eastlake in Chula Vista, who led the San Diego Section with eight home runs and posted a .413 batting average on 43 hits.

Trey Kotsay, also from Cathedral Catholic in San Diego, has drawn attention for his all‑round performance, while his father Mark Kotsay, a 1995 graduate of Santa Fe High in Santa Fe Springs, was himself a first‑team all‑state selection.

Rickee Luevano, a junior at Sylmar, blasted eight homers to lead the L.A. City Section and also contributed 36 strikeouts in 33 innings pitched, batting .427 for the season.

Mound Leaders

On the mound, Gavin Guy from Newport Harbor in Newport Beach proved equally dominant, finishing the season 9‑1 with a 0.67 ERA and earning accolades as an ace in the CIF SoCal D2 title game.

Jake Ange of Thousand Oaks made headlines when he launched two grand slams in a single game, a feat that has added to the excitement surrounding the upcoming selections.

The all‑state committees will separate honorees by class – juniors, sophomores, medium schools and small schools – and will also compile a freshman watch list, a final top‑30 overall team, and second and third teams for large schools and seniors. A special category will recognize multi‑purpose players who excel both as pitchers and hitters.

The 2026 all‑state patch, designed in collaboration with partners at BillyTees.com, will carry forward the visual style of previous years, underscoring the program’s long‑standing tradition.

Readers are encouraged to forward any overlooked nominees or to voice support for candidates they believe deserve recognition, ensuring the final selections reflect the broader community’s voice.
