Pole Position Drama at Coronado
Shane van Gisbergen set the fastest lap of the session, clocking 2 minutes, 14.788 seconds to claim pole for the Anduril 250 NASCAR Cup Series race. The New Zealander edged out Carson Hocevar by a razor‑thin 0.15 seconds, underscoring how tightly contested the qualifying round had become.
The starting grid also features heavyweight names such as Chase Elliott and Christopher Bell, though both drivers struggled to find grip, slipping to 30th and 37th respectively. Bell, nursing a fractured wrist, will have rookie Brent Crews on standby as a precaution.
The event is scheduled for June 21 on the street circuit surrounding the Naval Base Coronado in California. Over 75 laps, drivers will cover 255 miles, with stages divided into 20‑lap, 20‑lap and 35‑lap segments, promising a mix of strategy and endurance.
Fans will be able to watch the action live on Amazon Prime Video, which has secured national broadcast rights. In addition, HBO Max will provide in‑car camera feeds, while NASCAR.com will offer live audio commentary, ensuring multiple ways to experience the race.
The field will be comprised of a who’s‑who of NASCAR’s top teams, including Trackhouse Racing, Spire Motorsports, Team Penske and many others, each bringing technical prowess and driver talent to the coastal showdown.
