Fort Fairfield’s Tigers captured the Class D baseball state championship on Saturday, securing a 4-1 victory over Telstar at St. Joseph’s College in Standish.
A Pitcher's Duel
The win was built around a dominant performance from left-hander Jonah Leblanc, who tossed 6 1/3 innings, allowed just one run and recorded seven strikeouts.
Graedon King led the offensive onslaught, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs, while Cayden Ala contributed a double and an RBI to push the Tigers ahead 4-0 by the fourth inning.
Late Innings and Clutch Closure
Telstar answered with an RBI single from Brennan Walker in the seventh, but Cayden Ala sealed the game by retiring both batters he faced without surrendering a baserunner.
Bryson Walker’s two hits and solid defensive work kept the pressure on, but the Tigers’ pitching staff combined for 13 strikeouts and limited Telstar to seven hits overall.
The championship marks a milestone for Fort Fairfield, whose season-long consistency and timely hitting proved decisive in a tightly contested final.
