A Homecoming for a Local Hero
Andrew Ogletree, a former Indianapolis Colts tight end and Northridge High School alumnus, returned to his hometown of Dayton, Ohio, this summer to lead a free youth football camp on the very fields where he once honed his skills.
The camp, held at Northridge High School, offered local children a chance to practice drills, learn teamwork, and stay active during the hot summer months when many schools are on break.
Ogletree emphasized that keeping kids moving outdoors is about more than just sport; it’s about building confidence, discipline, and a sense of belonging in the community that raised him.
Health and Wellness at the Core
Superintendent David Jackson praised the event, noting that it aligns perfectly with the school district’s ongoing focus on health, wellness, and holistic student development.
Jackson highlighted the partnership between the school and local athletes as a model for how educational institutions can extend learning beyond the classroom and into real‑world mentorship.
For Ogletree, the camp is a way to give back, showing youngsters that success on the field can translate into positive contributions off it, regardless of one’s background.
