Kira Mowen has stepped into a pivotal role at North Park University, taking the helm of the women's basketball program as its new head coach. Her appointment signals a strategic push to elevate the program within the competitive Midwest landscape.
A New Era for North Park Basketball
Mowen arrives with a proven track record of building winning teams. At Millersville University she guided her squads to three consecutive PSAC playoff appearances, and at Knox College she captured the Midwest Conference championship and secured an NCAA Tournament berth.
Her coaching journey also includes a productive period as associate head coach and director of recruiting at Monmouth University, where the team achieved a program‑best fourth‑place finish in the MAAC, and a stint at the University of Wisconsin‑Milwaukee, where she helped assemble the Horizon League’s top recruiting class.
Before transitioning to coaching, Mowen played under Hall of Fame mentor Theresa Grentz at the University of Illinois and later earned a master of education degree from Texas State in 2010. She graduated from Youngstown State, where she began her collegiate career.
